Mrs. Aisha Zumo Bade


Aisha is the founder of Bade & Co Attorneys. She graduated in 1996 from the University of Dar es Salaam earning an LL.B (Hons). She worked as a State Attorney with the Attorney General’s Chambers, a Corporation Counsel for Tanzania Legal Corporation and an intern in the chambers of a renowned land lawyer in Tanzania; Law Associates (Advocates).   During her employment with these firms, she handled various issues on Land Law and Conveyancing, Mortgages, Civil Law, Corporate Law, Banking and Insurance Laws, Criminal litigation and Mining Laws.   Aisha was also responsible for the preparation and perfection of security documentation for various financial institutions.

Thereafter, Aisha went for an LL.M degree obtained at the Auckland University in New Zealand. While pursuing her Masters Degree, Aisha worked with the law firm of Baldwin, Son & Carey in its Auckland establishment as a legal officer in 1998/99. During her stay with this firm, She gained practical experience in corporate business particularly concerning banking law, insurance litigation, investment, merger and acquisitions, natural resources and environmental law and information technology and communication.

Aisha joined the Land’s Division (Delivery & Legal Services) of the Ministry of Lands as civil servant in July 1999. While with the Ministry, Aisha was elected in the Ministerial Committee entrusted with the responsibility of operationalization of the new land laws in the country (Land Act 1999). She was part of the team that was responsible for the drafting of the forms and regulations, translation of the Acts and editing of the same, together with local as well as international consultants.

In the year 2000, Aisha took an initiative to become a partner in the law firm of Chipeta, Bade & Associates, which ranked well in the corporate world, where she became a dependable litigation attorney and corporate consultant on issues across a wide area of practice ranging from tax law, company reorganizations, sale of shares and business, land and conveyance, debt recoveries, mortgaging, banking, due diligence, securitization, insurance law, maritime and shipping law.

While with this firm she earned a practical experience and insights in issues of management, law practice and judicial system in the country.

Ms. Aisha was a council member of the Tanganyika Law Society, a member of the East Africa Law Society as well as a member of the Tanzania Women Lawyers Association where she has been responsible for advocacy work, legal aid clinics and fund raising.
